Content

The course is providing an introduction to the work of an architect in projects as it is done in the industry. An introduction is given for current important technology concepts like SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and BPM (Business Process Management). Architectural Methods are introduced that are used to structure, describe, and specify architectures based on functional and non-functional requirements. Work products, documents, diagrams and models are discussed and used in order to specify the architecture of a solution. This approach is used by the students to work on a proposal of a real case in group work; this case study is presented in one of the lectures. Finally, Enterprise Architecture concepts are introduced and Governance of architectures within a complex organizational structure of a company is discussed.

The lecture will be on Fridays from 12:15 to 13:45 at BIN 2.A.10 starting on September 21.

Exercises

Students work on a case study for a real case that is presented at one of the lectures. The rating of this term work is one third of the overall exam rating. In addition, there is an oral exam that counts two thirds of the overall exam rating. (NEW) The oral exams will take place on December 14, 17, 18; thus there will be no exam and no lecture on December 21.

Evaluation

The grade in this course will be based on the project presentation of the team (1/3) and the final exam (2/3). To pass the course the project presentation (term paper) as well as the exam must be passed.
