Together with Prof. Susanne Suter from the FHNW (lead) and industry partner Ecolution, Prof. Pajarola has received a 50K Hasler grant for the project Innovation in Swiss Building Renovation: Automated Potential Estimation with Digital Twins.
The project is a collaboration between the FHNW Institute for Data Science, Ecolution and the Visualization and MultiMedia Lab, Department of Informatics at UZH.
This project aims to identify the best possible approaches to develop (semi-)automated solutions to perform heat-demand calculations on digital 3D building models based on IFC (Industry Foundation Classes: open-source building information models (BIM) data standard) that are extracted from 3D laser scans. In this preliminary study, we aim to demonstrate accurate enough heat-demand calculations for three typical Swiss buildings types with a multi-stage data acquisition, processing and analysis approach.
