Meme coins have emerged as a distinct category within the cryptocurrency market, characterized by highly volatile price movements and speculative trading behavior. This study aims to systematically analyze the underlying mechanisms of meme coins, using several representative examples of Meme coins to examine their price fluctuations across different centralized exchanges (CEXs). Additionally, it will explore the extent of arbitrage opportunities(in terms of price differences, duration, and profit size ) both among CEXs and between CEXs and decentralized exchanges (DEXs) .
To conduct this research, students will be required to collect price data and metadata of meme coins from major CEXs (e.g., Binance, Coinbase, Kraken). We will help collect trading data for meme coins on DEXs. We are seeking highly motivated students with a strong interest in time series analysis and a willingness to explore this field.
