Currently, I am a database architect with Swiss Re. From 2001 to 2016, I have been with Credit Suisse. I am also a DBTG "guest", meaning that I continue to give classes at the Department of Information Technology.
Before moving to Credit Suisse, I have been a senior researcher in the Database Technology Research Group. I received a diploma in Computer Science from the University of Karlsruhe (Germany) in 1989 and a PhD in CS from the University of Zurich (1994). From August 1998 to August 1999 I was a visiting scientist at the IBM Almaden Research Center, where I joined the Garlic project.
