UML

The Unified Modeling Language has quite rapidly become the dominant language for visually modeling specifications.

We have investigated stereotypes, a concept for user-defined extensions of UML, and have contributed a classification.

We have also analyzed UML with respect to its suitability as a requirements specification language and have identified several problems and weaknesses, some of these being quite severe.

Therefore, we focus our research on non-UML approaches.
