Participation

We expect about 50 international participants with an additional 20 PhD students.

PhD student attendance support

The symposium provides financial assistance to international students to help defray costs of attending. It is limited to PhD students (by recommendation of their advisor) in the subject area of the symposium. The funds (up to a maximum of CHF 500 per student) can be used to assist with expenses incurred attending our symposium. However, please note that we have a limited budget and there are many qualified students. As a result, we can provide only partial support for attendance. The student's university, and/or research advisor is expected to also assist in paying the student's expenses.

Rules and Guidelines how to apply

To be eligible, the applicant must be enrolled in a PhD program. To apply for the travel funds, the student must submit the following:

  • An informal application (sent by email to both organizers) including: (1) name, (2) e-mail, (3) university enrolled as PhD student, (4) name of advisor, (5) topic of research (e.g., title of PhD research or recent publication), and (6) a brief resume (or URL) of the student.
  • Estimated expenses (travel costs, etc.)
  • As a confirmation to be enrolled as PhD student and to support the application, the advisor needs to confirm the application by e-mail to the organizers (no formal document needed). (For convenience, just cc your advisor in your application e-mail such that s/he only has to reply to it.)
