Research

My research interests lie at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and maternal health, focusing on understanding the informational needs of expectant parents and healthcare providers. I am also interested in how technology can enhance prenatal care experiences.

Through qualitative studies, I investigate the existing pregnancy monitoring practices and perceptions of expectant parents and healthcare providers regarding sensing technologies. My work aims to uncover potential barriers to adoption and identify opportunities to improve the user experience of these technologies in prenatal care settings.

I am particularly interested in participatory design approaches that involve expectant mothers, their partners, and healthcare providers in the design process. My goal is to create user-centred technological solutions that enhance the overall prenatal experience. This means not only supporting the well-being of mothers and babies throughout the prenatal journey but also addressing pregnancy care needs beyond the medical aspects. For example, I explore the social dimension of pregnancy, which highlights the importance of building bonds between expectant parents, close relatives, and the developing fetus.
