Course Overview

This course aims to introduce the basic concepts,methodologies,and tools of project management and help students better understand how to plan and manage IT projects successfully. Students will be asked to utilize course concepts,methods, and tools to solve real world project management problems. Students will learn the skills necessary to define project scope, make project plans, and manage projects with certain resources. In addtion, students will be taught how to manage policy issues associated with project management.

Announcement

1. Project leaders, please email to Xiao Li about your project member and project title by 30/09/16.The maximum number of your group member is five, the minimum number of your group member is two. 

2. Those who have not found collaborators, please email  Xiao Li by  04/10/16.

3. For those who have not found collaborators, we will have an list of your names and emails on 29/10/16. Please discuss with each other, and email us your final team formation by Oct. 2nd, 2016.

4. Midterm project report is due on Nov. 28th, 2016, please email your midterm project report to Xiao Li.

5. Final project report due is on 12:00 AM eleventh (11th) January 2017,please email your midterm project report to Xiao Li.

6. You can just submit your final project report for one time, it means that you are not allowed to submit your report more than one time. Please do not forget to submit your final project report to Mr. Xiao Li.

Final Project

(Q&A sessions will be held at regular lecture time slots)

 

Tutorial sessions and homework assginments are critical to provide studntes hands on experiences and skills. Each tutorial and assignment is designed to help you eventually finish the term projects independently. The attendance of each lecture is mandatory.

Each tutorial session is supervised by the teaching assistant (TA). He will help you to get familiar with the necessary software, expain the protocal for conducting the assiments, and answer any of your questions.

Grading

The grading breakdown will be:

  1. Two course projects. One midterm (30%) and one final project (60%) 
  2. Active participation and interaction during the lectures and tutorials (10%)
