Working with points as the raw geometric primitives requires data
processing support for basic geometric operations. Given raw 3D point
sample data further attributes and features must be derived such as for
example normal directions and orientations, curvature information or
hole detection. Moreover, the data must be prepared which may involve
smoothing, outlier removal, re-sampling or data reduction. In this
context we investigate new and efficient solutions for curvature and
feature aware sampling, point simplification or surface reconstruction
methods.
