Inaugural lecture by Giorgia Ramponi

Giorgia Ramponi investigates reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and multi-agent systems, advancing machine learning for autonomous and interconnected systems.

Giorgia Ramponi

In her inaugural lecture, Giorgia Ramponi will present an overview of fundamental concepts in learning for sequential decision-making, emphasizing its critical role in domains where decisions evolve over time, including robotics, finance, and automated systems. She will examine current theoretical and practical challenges, discussing both the limitations and promising capabilities of contemporary reinforcement learning techniques. Finally, Giorgia Ramponi will introduce solutions designed to overcome some of these challenges, to create more effective and efficient decision-making models.

Giorgia Ramponi joined the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich as Assistant Professor in 2024, where she heads the Autonomous Learning and Predictive Intelligence Lab (ALPI). Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the ETH AI Center, supported by Google Deepmind, and earned her Ph.D. with honors from Politecnico di Milano in 2021.
