Prof. Min Chen visited the IFI and honored us with a fantastic talk about "The four levels of Visualization."
Abstract:
In this talk, the speaker will examine the objectives of visualization at four different levels, namely, (1) disseminative, (2) observational, (3) analytical, and (4) model-developmental levels. The four levels correspond to different complexity classes in computer science. While a widespread understanding is Level 1, a common omission has been Level 4, until now. The importance of visualization in model development,
especially in machine learning, became apparent in recent years. The speaker will use several visualization applications to illustrate the main characteristics of the four levels, while focusing on its role in machine learning in particular.
